If the first Super Mario Brothers game created a legend, the third instalment showed us what he looked like. Super Mario Brothers 3’s iconic graphics are its best feature, so much so that Mario’s appearance, and the appearances of his friends and enemies, have changed very little in the 24 years since its release.
The game is not without it’s flaws, however. For the most part, it’s much too easy (the end of level bosses are a breeze) and instead of a learning curve, the game just gets incredibly hard, very fast, at the end.
It takes a lot longer to complete than the original but, self referencing final cut scene aside, the pay-off is much the same.
Still, at least it wasn’t all a dream.
